Christmas Market 2015
We Day 2015
Scarecrow Festival 2015
We had a great time at the scarecrow festival on Sunday and raised $207.75 for Critteraid in Summerland, hopefully that will help with some of the many costs involved with rescuing and caring for so many cats and other animals as they do at Critteraid! Kylee was entered in the scarecrow contest again and managed to fool a few people and even a few of the judges!

Bats for a Cause Slo-Pitch Tournament 2015
We had an amazing weekend at the 7th Annual Bats for a Cause tournament and sold a lot of rocks. In just 2 days we raised $1004.00 in rock sales along with another $650.00 from online donations bringing our weekend total to $1654.00. THANK YOU all for your support!! The grand total raised for the tournament was an incredible $77,726.62 for BC Children's Hospital!
Kylee had the honor of being chosen as the "Champion
kid" at this event this year so Nana told her story to the crowd for us and we had many people later share their stories with us. It's a special weekend to see the community come together to raise so much money for a hospital used by so many children!
At the end of the tournament Kylee was given an Autographed copy of a BC Lions Jersey as a gift & then after she was asked to draw the winning ticket for a Canucks Jersey ! Another great and successful weekend! |
This brave little boy Kamden and his mom, Kristina visited us at our booth & we had a special rock waiting for him!!

Youth Citizens of the Year
A recap of 2014!
We just wanted to Wish Everyone a Merry Christmas and all the Best in 2015!! We have had a great year and wanted to thank everyone for all their amazing support with Charity Rocks!
This Year alone we have managed to donate over $3800 to different charities with a total overall of $6775.00 over the past 3 years.
We started the year at The Kelowna General Hospital on Valentines day and raised $760.00 for the new Heart and surgical center in just one afternoon! A fun event and nice to help the hospital!
We had an amazing time with our cousins hiking up the Grouse Grind in June and raising $1076.00 in donations from all of our great supporters!
In July we set up a table over the weekend at the "Bats for a cause" slow pitch tourney and raised $500.00 for BC Children's Hospital.
We were then invited to sell our rocks at the annual Scarecrow festival in Rutland and had an amazing time! Between our sales at that event and setting up tables on all of our camping trips throughout the summer and with other orders we received we were able to make a donation to "Free the Children" for $646.15 this year as well as to B.C. Children's Hospital for $547.25!
We then ended our year selling some rocks at the local Christmas Craft fair in Peachland and raised $340.00 for the Peachland Food Bank.
We had a few Christmas rocks left over after the craft fair and took them down to the Critteraid Thrift shop in Summerland and hopefully they helped raise a bit of Christmas money for the many animals that they take care of at the Critteraid farm.
Overall it's been a great year and many rocks were created with lots of love and sold for some great causes! Thank you again and see you in the New Year!!

Rocks for Critteraid
We dropped these rocks off at the Critteraid Thrift shop in Summerland for them to sell & raise a little bit of money to help out this amazing animal rescue shelter over the holidays! If you are cleaning out your closets please consider donating your extra things to this thrift shop & help them raise money to go towards caring for all the special animals in their care!
Peachland Christmas craft fair 2014
We raised $341.00 for the Peachland Food Bank and had a great time selling our rocks at the Peachland Craft Sale again this year! Some of the money we donated will be used to help make up Christmas baskets for some families that the food bank is helping out this year! We are looking forward to volunteering some of our time to help them put the baskets together!

Slow-Pitch Tournament for BC Children's Hospital
This event was a huge success! In the two days that we were set up we made $500.00 for BC Children's Hospital! The total amount that was made over the weekend by all the teams in the tournament was $ 50,000.00! That's pretty incredible for one weekend! We really enjoyed being there and watching all the baseball games. Our Papa was even on one of the teams so that made it pretty special to us! We hope to get invited to go again next year and see if we can raise even more money next time!
Mountain Lake Films
We just had a film crew from Mountain Lake Films at the house to do a short clip on us and what we do and why! This will be used in part of a film that they are playing at the Kelowna General Hospital Gala dinner in the fall. Hopefully we will help to inspire others to make a donation to towards the new Heart & Surgical center at the Hospital!
Slo-Pitch Tournament for BC Children's Hospital
These are some of the rocks we have painted for the upcoming slow-pitch tournament on July 26 at Mission Sports Fields in Kelowna with all donations going to B.C. Children's Hospital! It's going to be a fun day for a great cause!!

This year once again the charity rocks team went to Vancouver to climb the grouse grind on Saturday June 14 to help raise awareness and money for clean water in Africa!! We joined together we thousands of other people hiking up the grind, it was an awesome day just knowing how much we are helping young children and their families have clean and healthy water to drink!! Kelowna Youth Summit June 7 2014
We had a very inspiring day at the Kelowna Youth Summit. Before the summit started we got to meet Spencer West & Hannah Apler from the Free the Children who have been a huge inspiration to us. Once it did start they both gave amazing speeches, then a band called Neverest played some songs. After that we went into groups and did different activities to help you find your spark and teach you how to the change the world, we had a great time that we will never forget!
This is a video that Shaw TV put together for their show "Go Okanagan" !!
Hope you find it inspiring!
We found this article in the Capital News last week!!
Dr. Phil Ashmore
We received a special order the other day from Sterling Haynes asking us to create a rock in memory of an amazing paediatric cardiac surgeon, Dr.Phil Ashmore. Dr. Ashmore was the first surgeon in Vancouver to specialize in paediatric heart surgery and brought to BC Childrens Hospital the "Mustard procedure" which was a procedure used to correct "transpostion of the great arteries". This is the procedure that saved Kylee's life so we are very grateful for the work of Dr. Phil Ashmore. Sterling Haynes made a generous donation to Kelowna General Hospital's Heart and Surgical center through Charity Rocks and we now get to keep this beautiful rock in memory of Dr. Ashmore in our home to remember his part in saving so many children born every year in B.C. with heart defects and most importantly to us, his part in giving Kylee such a strong and healthy heart!!
Thank you to both Sterling Haynes and Dr.Phil Ahsmore!!

On Valentines Day we sold lots and lots of rocks at the hospital in Kelowna!! We were rasing money for the new Heart and Surgical unit that they are bulding at the Kelowna General Hospital and raised $710.20!!! It was really nice to give back after all they have done for Kylee! After we finished selling we brought some Valentine rocks up to all the kids staying in the hospital, we gave the rocks to some employees and they handed them all out, hopefully we brought some smiles to their faces and brightened their day! It was lots of fun and I really can't wait to go back, probably sometime this spring!

Fundraiser for Nate
We were excited to be able to donate a couple of our rocks to a Silent Auction at a local fundraising event for a Peachland family and their baby, Nate Cody. He has been at Children's Hospital since he was born in August. He was born with a perforated bowel and the amazing doctors at Children's Hospital are working hard to be able to send him home! Children's Hospital is very special to us so it was so nice to be able to do something to help this little boy.
Our two rocks raised about $50.00 at the auction! We also gave the little rock in the picture that says "Love" to Nate's big sister Alexa, and the smaller "Believe" rock to the family. We hope that in a small way this has helped the family.
Children's Hospital creates miracles every day and we wish the best to baby Nate and his family!

We Day Vancouver October 18 2013
We were invited to "We Day" this year as honoured guests! At lunch we gave a $300 donation to a Free the Children member, Courtney, to go towards the water system we are building in Kenya! We also gave her a few rocks that we painted that say "Inspire the Change." "We day" was super amazing this year, we loved every second of it, all the speeches were extremely inspiring. I thought that the two youth speakers did such a good job and were really brave! Craig and Marc Kielburger did a excellent job, and we got to see Spencer West speak again! I also really enjoyed Molly Burkes speech along with Martin Luther King the third and all the others! We Day was a wonderful experience!
Kylee's a discovery girl! October/November 2013
Kylee was chosen out of thousands of girls to be a Discovery Girl of BC. She is in the October/November issue of Discovery Girls magazine. In April she went to a two day photo shoot where she met 11 other amazing girls who quickly all became great friends and they all still email and text each other today. On the first day of the shoot they all met at Granville Island and explored the whole place, going on the water bus, getting yummy ice cream, and playing on the playground! They took tons of pictures of all 12 girls laughing, smiling and have a great time! The next day the Discovery Girls went to Sugar Studios and took their profile pictures, and pictures for different upcoming articles! They had a great time and in Kylee's paragraph about herself she talks about Charity Rocks! For more information about discovery girls go to discoverygirls.com/ and to see Kylee's web diary check out discoverygirls.com/dg-blog/magazine-bonus/dg-web-diary-kylee-british-columbia

Thanks so much to everyone who donated, we raised $715, and all together everyone who climbed raised over $110,000!
Vancouver Children's Hospital Oct. 19/12
While in Vancouver we made a quick trip to Vancouver Children's Hospital to meet with Cheri Spence and presented her with a donation of $1000.00!!!!! That's a LOT of Rocks!!! This donation will go to the ICU in Children's Hospital. This is where Kylee spent most of her time during her stay at the hospital when she was just a baby. We were lucky enough to meet with a nurse in ICU, Leslie, who gave us a tour of the ICU department, bringing back many memories of Kylee's stay there! We also were able to leave a few rocks that said "Believe" to give to some of the families that are there now. Hopefully in a small way this will give them a bit of comfort knowing this came from a family that shares a similar experience.
We Day Vancouver Oct. 18/12
Kayla & Kylee were really excited to be invited as special guests at the "We Day" event in Vancouver this year. Craig & Marc Kielburger even talked about Charity Rocks at the event!! Weday Vancouver Oct 13/11
Kayla attended the Weday event in Vancouver on Oct.13/11. She entered a school essay writing contest to be considered out of 4 students to attend but unfortunately did not win one of the reserved seats for her school. Her parents felt so strongly that she deserved a chance to experience this awesome event that they decided to email the organizers of the event and ask if there was any way she could attend. After hearing about Kayla's story, one of the organizers emailed back the night before the event and said if she could make it to Vancouver, they would have a seat waiting for her! Kayla and her mom immediately packed the car and headed to Vancouver late that night, arriving in Vancouver at 5:00 AM. Kayla was very tired but thoroughly enjoyed the event where she heard inspirational speeches about how hers and others efforts were making a better world for other kids less fortunate than themselves. It was a real eye-opening, thought inspiring day with many like-minded kids and awesome live entertainment!. The picture below shows Kayla with the painted rock she gave the Weday organizers. Thank you to all of you at Weday! YOU GUYS ROCK!!

Glenrosa Elementary Craft Fair Nov.4/11
We have had so much success selling our painted rocks this summer, our mom decided to set us up at the Glenrosa Elementary Christmas Market craft fair. The rocks were a hit and we sold almost $200 worth of rocks. Some of our new rocks worth mentioning are the 'chalk rocks'; large rocks that we paint with chalkboard paint and then finish off with some fancy highlights. The chalk rocks allow people to write on with regular chalkboard chalk with any kind of design or message much like a regular chalkboard. 'Thank you!' to the organizers of the craft fair for having us and we hope we can be there again next year!
McPherson Rocks, Sept. 11/2011
After reading about our rocks through a local newspaper story, Bill McPherson called us and said he would like to help out and buy 30 of our rocks to sell to the people who live in their condominium complex! We were so happy and so grateful that some people have such big hearts! After searching for the perfect rocks we began painting like crazy. It was a big job but we put the same love and care into painting each and every rock. Shown in the picture on the left is Bill Mcpherson and Grace Dodds donating $150. A big THANK YOU to all of you!
BCSPCA Paws for a Cause, Sept.11/2011
We participated in the Paws for a Cause walk where we registered our Portuguese Water Dog 'Kahli' and walked 3 km along the Kelowna City Park walkway to raise money for the SPCA. It was a very hot day (30 degrees celsius) but we all had a lot of fun. We entered Kahli in the cake walk and bandana relay race and watched a few good dog tricks. In the picture, we are donating $152 to a very happy SPCA lady. The money was raised from people who bought rocks from us this summer and asked that we donate it to the SPCA.
Brushes and Beyond Art Show, Aug. 20/2011
Recently, we were asked to attend the 'Brushes and Beyond art show put on by Marilyn Block and all the artists. The weather was awesome which helped bring people out. There were many nice paintings and the yard was decorated beautifully. We painted many new rocks for the show and our parents and grandparents helped us set up a big display! The rocks were a hit with everybody and we sold many with some people giving $5 or $10 for a rock! Thank you to Beverlee Williams for inviting us. We would love to come back next year!
